DIABETIC AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM 100% COVERED BY MEDICAD

At Sunset Pediatric Academy, our PPEC (Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care) program is an invaluable resource for children with chronic conditions, such as diabetes. We provide specialized nursing care for 12 hours a day, Monday through Friday, tailored to the unique needs of each child. For children with diabetes, this care is essential to maintain stable blood glucose levels and promote overall good health.

Our PPEC program offers a comprehensive approach that includes:

  • Continuous blood glucose monitoring: We perform regular monitoring of blood sugar levels to ensure they stay within a healthy range. Our team is trained to administer insulin and prevent both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.

  • Personalized diabetes education: We provide specific training for children and their families on how to manage diabetes. This includes guidance on proper nutrition, recognizing symptoms of blood glucose fluctuations, and understanding the importance of insulin and other medications.

  • Exercise and physical activity: At Sunset Pediatric Academy, we incorporate appropriate physical activity, which is crucial for managing diabetes. Regular physical activity helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels and promotes overall well-being.

  • Support for parents and caregivers: We understand the importance of family support, so we provide training for parents and caregivers, ensuring they have the knowledge and tools needed to manage their child’s diabetes at home.

  • Safe and structured environment: Our PPEC program is designed to offer a safe and structured environment where children with special medical needs can engage in age-appropriate activities while receiving the necessary medical care.
