What Is a PPEC?
PPEC stands for Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care. It’s a specialized medical daycare program that provides daily skilled nursing and therapy services to children with complex medical needs — all in one safe, supportive environment.
Medical Care & Therapy in One Place
Instead of taking your child to multiple medical and therapy appointments throughout the week, a PPEC offers comprehensive care under one roof. This includes:
- Ongoing nursing supervision
- Physical, occupational, speech, or respiratory therapy
- Medication administration
- G-tube feeding, oxygen management, suctioning, and more
Who Takes Care of the Children at a PPEC?
At Sunset Pediatric Academy, your child is cared for by a team of pediatric nurses, licensed therapists, and trained caregivers, all working under the supervision of a medical director. We also promote social interaction, therapeutic play, and developmental learning in a loving, structured setting. PPEC services are 100% covered by Medicaid for children who qualify. There’s no cost to families. We’ll guide you step-by-step through the application and approval process.
Skilled Nursing
We offer comprehensive, skilled nursing services designed to meet the unique needs of children with complex medical conditions. Our team of experienced registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) provides specialized care in a safe, supportive environment, ensuring your child receives the highest level of medical attention.
Physical Therapy
Our physical therapy services are designed to help children reach their full physical potential in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. We understand that each child has unique needs, and our team of skilled physical therapists provides personalized care to improve mobility, strength, and overall function.
Occupational Therapy
Our occupational therapy services are designed to help children develop the skills they need to engage in everyday activities, from playing to learning to self-care. Our skilled occupational therapists work with each child individually to create personalized therapy plans that promote independence, improve fine motor skills, and enhance overall functional abilities.
Speech Therapy
Our speech therapy services are designed to help children develop effective communication skills, enhance speech clarity, and improve social interaction. Our skilled speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work with each child individually to create personalized therapy plans that address a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs.
Behavioral Therapy
Our behavioral therapy services are designed to support children in developing positive behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and fostering social skills. Our experienced behavioral therapists use evidence-based techniques to address a variety of behavioral challenges, ensuring that each child receives the guidance and support they need to thrive in both structured and social environments.
Nutrition Meals
We understand the vital role nutrition plays in a child’s overall health and development. Our nutrition meals service is designed to provide children with balanced, nutritious, and delicious meals tailored to meet their individual dietary needs. We work closely with parents, caregivers, and healthcare providers to ensure that every child receives the right nutrition to support their growth, energy, and well-being.
Does My Child Qualify for PPEC?
f your child has a medical condition that requires frequent or daily care — such as severe asthma, seizures, feeding tubes, tracheostomy, developmental delays, or prematurity — they may qualify for PPEC services. We offer free evaluations and can help you every step of the way.
PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE
Our private transportation service includes:
- Safe and Comfortable Rides: We provide comfortable, well-maintained vehicles equipped with the necessary safety features, including child safety seats and secure restraints, ensuring your child’s safety during every trip.
- Experienced and Caring Drivers: Our drivers are trained to provide exceptional care and are equipped to handle the unique needs of children, including those with medical conditions or disabilities.
- Timely and Reliable Service: We prioritize punctuality to ensure that your child arrives on time for their appointments, activities, or daily care at our facility, reducing any stress or inconvenience.
- Coordination with Care Plans: We work with your family and medical team to ensure transportation aligns with your child’s care plan, including coordinating for any medical needs or special assistance required during travel.
